My name is Miriam (in case you haven’t noticed). I live in West by gods Virginia. The majority of my time is spent caretaking for my elderly grandfather, whom I lovingly refer to as Mad Cow (because he has some form of dementia). I totally believe in magick and fairies. I like broccoli, but not cauliflower. I bake delicious yummies when I feel like it, and I’m learning how to cook. Yes, there is a difference. I’ve got 2 goals in this life: 1) To make this world a better place to live in, 2) To be happy.
Movies make me happy. In fact, I even got a degree in them. Fat lot of good it does me in the hills of Appalachia, but that’s ok. I found out I didn’t like being a minor part of the film industry nearly as much as I enjoy watching flicks. I like a fairly broad range of genres, but I tend to be picky. I DON’T LIKE sad endings or saccharine soup. Purple prose makes me laugh, but not in the good way. Funny is good, but not stupid. Action/adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, historicals, just about anything with magic involved… all GOOD. The one thing that bugs me and turns me off faster than [insert witty quip here] is violence for no other reason than the sake of violence. (Sorry, Mel. That puts you pretty much out on your EAR. Oh, and by the way, the name Braveheart refers to Robert the Bruce, NOT William Wallace. But whatever.)
Writing is fun and time consuming. I’m editing my first draft of a romantic-erotic novel, and I’m working through the rough draft of a science fiction novel– because making it easy on myself by sticking to one genre would just be too…. um, easy? I’m also developing a couple of films. Again: sticking to one medium would be too easy. Then there’s the sewing, the bead work, the gardening… and someday, wood burning! (Heh. Yeah, right.)
Aaaaand that’s about it for now. Feel free to poke around, ask questions, offer recipes. I don’t bite. Well, not more than one person at a time, anyway, and at the moment, the position is filled.
Peace.
